Russian shoots world record down

Russian shooter, Vitaly Fokeev, has set a world record in the double trap discipline, hitting 148 targets out of 150 in the qualification of the World Cup stage in Chile.

The 37-year-old then had four misses in the final, collecting 194 points, which was still enough for him to win the event, Ves Sport news agency reports. The results saw Fokeev bring Russia the fourth of the eight available Olympic licenses in clay pigeon shooting. In London 2012, he’ll defend the Russian colors in the double trap together with Vasily Mosin, who took silver at the last year’s World Championships.Double trap is a shooting sport, in which participants use a shotgun to attempt to break a clay disk flung away from the shooter at high speed.
