Student protests in Athens: 20 injured, 40 detained
At least twenty people have been injured and forty detained in Athens, the capital of Greece, during student protests against education reforms. It took police over 3 hours to quell the demonstrators.
Some of the protestors were throwing Molotov cocktails and stones and smashing shop windows.The violence erupted outside parliament, during a rally at the centre of the Greek capital attended by more than 20,000 students and academic staff.Windows in the parliament building were also smashed, but the reform relaxing a ban on police entering campus grounds was still approved.
