Dramatic video emerges of burning plane landing in river

Dramatic new pictures have emerged of the moment a Russian passenger plane was forced to make an emergency landing on water in Eastern Siberia, killing seven people.

The Antonov An-24 plane, with 33 passengers and three crew members on board, can clearly be seen with one of its engines on fire before it crash-landed in the River Ob in the Tomsk Region on Monday. The aircraft was on its way from Tomsk to Surgut when a fire in one of its engines forced the pilots to make an emergency landing in the water. While the plane stayed afloat the majority of the passengers managed to escape, but seven people died.Divers found the last body from the crashed An-24 on Tuesday."The body was found by divers today under the tail of the plane. The search operation is now complete," Diana Slesareva, a spokesperson for the Emergencies Ministry, told Itar-Tass news agency. Two of those hurt are in serious condition after undergoing surgery on Monday. Eighteen people from the plane currently remain in hospital with injuries of varying degrees of severity. An Emergencies Ministry helicopter is ready to transfer them to other medical facilities if necessary. Meanwhile, the flight recorders of the crashed plane have been recovered. Efforts to remove the aircraft have been postponed.  "Today it won’t be lifted for sure,” the EMERCOM press-service informed Interfax-Siberia news agency. “The date will be set after the examination of the place and the place where it touched the water.”The decision on the date of the extraction will now be made by the commission, formed by administration officials in the Tomsk Region and specialists from the local department of the Emergencies Ministry.  There are two possible ways of dealing with the situation, which are cutting the plane in two or dredging the River Ob’s bed to allow the crane to operate.
