'Bronze Soldier' defended in Estonia

'Bronze Soldier' defended in Estonia

A group called 'Nightwatch' demonstrated against the upcoming removal of the 'Bronze Soldier' controversial monument from downtown Tallinn to a military cemetery.

Defenders of the Soviet World War Two monument have protested outside the official residence of the country’s President.

Some also said they were defending the right of all Estonians who wish to pay tribute at the statue on May, 9 – Victory Day. However, this may not be possible as authorities say the removal of the monument may not be complete by Victory day, and could still be surrounded by fencing at this time.

The social movement has allegedly sent a delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.
