Zubkov defends four-man bobsled world cup title in Sochi

Aleksandr Zubkov has claimed his fifth World Cup title leading his four-man bobsled team to the third place finish in the final stage in Sochi.

Zubkov had claimed six World Cup stages this season and easily defended his title. He scored 1737 points, 90 ahead of the German crew led by Maximilian Arndt, who had to miss the Sochi stage due to a pelvis injury.Sunday's runs were won by the Latvian crew of Oscars Melbardis. He clocked the overall time of 1 minute, 52.29 seconds to narrowly beat the German team of Thomas Florschutz, who trailed the Latvians by just 0.02 seconds.The Swiss pair of Beat Hefti and Thomas Lamparter won Saturday's two-man bob that saw Canada's Lyndon Rush take the overall title, while his compatriots Kaillie Humphries and Chelsea Valios came third in Friday's two-woman bob to claim their title.The two-day event was held in the Sanki Sliding Center that will host the Olympic bobsled, skeleton and luge events in 2014 Winter Games.
