“Izvestia” daily reports that a database, containing up to 4 MLN credit records, can be purchased around Moscow for a mere $US 150. It includes records from Rosbank, Impeksbank, Finansbank and a number of other credit institutions.

The paper contacted the seller, who said the database contained the latest information since November 2006. “Isvestia’s” journalists have found out that its capacity increased by about 1 MLN credit records in just over a day.

Bank sources say that means some of the information in the database may be false. However, of them admit unofficially that it contains some valid credit records. The banks affected by this information leackage are launching their own investigations.
