Moscow accuses Minsk of misleading sugar exports

Sugar exports from Belarus will dominate talks between the Russian Agriculture Minister and the Belarusian Vice-Premier. Moscow thinks Minsk has been supplying cane sugar under the guise of more expensive beet sugar produced in Belarus.

Experts believe Belarusian exporters have taken advantage of the duty-free trade with Russia to sell the cheap product from Latin America. Moscow insists on cutting the imports while Minsk is offering to limit supplies itself.

Officials hope to sign an agreement on sugar exports by February 15.
