Etna runs violent, hurls lava and ash into sky (VIDEO)

Europe's highest and most active volcano, Mount Etna has erupted for the sixth time this year from a new crater on its south-eastern slope.

Situated on the southern Italian island of Sicily, Etna has run riot this year, although it’s never quiet for long, usually erupting at least twice a year. The volcano has spewed lava three times in the past month, with regular 12-day pauses.Italian officials say the ash is not yet causing problems for the nearest international Fontanarossa airport near Catania, the usual victim of Etna’s activity.Authorities have not issued any warning of danger to houses and people.
