Sochi urged to work on ‘Olympic Law’

Sochi's Town Hall has been asked to help prepare the so-called 'Olympic Law'. This law is designed to make things easier for the winter Olympic Games which will take place in Sochi, Russia’s Krasnodar region, in 2014.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is on holiday in Sochi,  met with the Mayor of Sochi, Viktor Kolodyazhny, and the Governor of the Krasnodar region, Aleksandr Tkachev. He congratulated the city and its Mayor on winning the Olympic bid and said it was a great opportunity to develop Russia's Southern Region.

“It is a good reason to develop the South of Russia. You know that the main financial means from the state budget will be channelled to develop the infrastructure of Russia's South and Sochi itself. I mean energy and water supplies, roads, bridges and tunnels. And, of course, sport facilities. That will create new jobs and hopefully Sochi will be a resort for the residents and tourists both in summer and winter,” Russia’s President stated.
