Russian 4X4 to be built in Egypt
Russia's largest carmaker, AvtoVaz, is planning to start production of its Niva off-road vehicles in Egypt in 2008. The cars, popular at home, will be produced by Lada Egypt at an assembly plant that already makes Ladas from Russian parts.
Avtovaz, based in the city of Tolyatti in Samara region, says it's planning to produce and deliver about a thousand Niva components for assembly in Egypt next year.
