Teenager takes forty winks in minus fifty!

A fifteen-year-old boy has narrowly escaped death after stowing away in the wing of a jet which was flying from the Russian city of Perm to Moscow. He was admitted to hospital with frostbite to his hands and feet. He is now said to be recovering.

The youngster had managed to sneak into a niche in the jet’s wing without being noticed by airport authorities in Perm airport in Russia's Volga district.
 
He was only noticed by airport staff upon his arrival in Moscow, much to the shock of staff there and the other passengers.  

Andrey says he wanted to look around the aircraft and fell asleep in the wing.  

According to him, he only woke up during take-off. The flight from Perm to Moscow lasts two hours in temperatures as low as minus 50 degrees Celsius.  

Andrey's unprecedented flight has left many stunned, including airport staff, his own mother and the doctors treating him. 

“Right now his condition is satisfactory. He doesn't have a fever and says he feels fine. He's also pretty active. He'll be in hospital for two or thee weeks, because the extent of the frostbite is still being determined, but we're all optimistic,” commented Dr Natalya Pavlenko.
