Putin reveals his income

Ahead of the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Russia, the Electoral Commission has released information about how much members of Vladimir Putin's United Russia party earn.

According to the report, last year the Russian leader earned 2.11 million roubles – that's around $US 81,500.

The President also owns an apartment in St Petersburg and 1,500 square metres of land in the Moscow region.

He has two “Gaz -21” cars – one produced in 1960, the other in 1965, which he inherited from his father.

The report shows Putin has no houses, garages or any other real estate.

Among Putin's party colleagues, one of the biggest earner was businessmen Aleksandr Khloponin.

His declared income is just over 133 million roubles – around $US 5.3 million.
