CSKA re-signs millionaire manager

Moscow football club CSKA and its manager Valery Gazzaev have agreed to a four year contract extension. It's thought he'll now take home $1.7 million a year.

The 53-year-old signed a contract extension until 2011 with a pay-rise.

There were rumours he might get the bullet after CSKA failed to qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League and was left without a ticket to the No.1 European club tournament for next season.

Gazzaev’s second spell with CSKA started after a half-season absence in the summer of 2004. Its achievements include winning three Russian Crowns (2003, 2005, 2006), a UEFA Cup (2005), as well as, bringing up a member of Brazilian national team Wagner Love.
