Moscow compels Lufthansa to relocate its hub

Lufthansa Cargo will be able to use Russian airspace until at least March, after the country’s Transport Ministry granted a new permit.

Lufthansa Cargo had been banned since October 28 because it refused to use a Siberian airport as an airfreight hub, as previously agreed.

The Russian Transport Ministry demanded German airline to relocate its Asian hub in Kazakhstan to Siberia in line with an interstate air traffic agreement.

Once Germany confirms that Lufthansa Cargo will use the Krasnoyarsk airport as its airfreight hub for Asian flights, the airline is expected to gain permanent approval.
