Russian FM says threats won`t help Kosovo

Russia`s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has called for an end to threatening rhetoric over the situation in Iran and Kosovo, which he`s described as `counterproductive`. He made the statement during a trip to the Slovenian capital Ljubljana.

According to Lavrov, “statements coming from some capitals, claiming Kosovo's independence is inevitable, are totally counterproductive.”

“I would like to repeat – both sides, Belgrade and Pristina, must settle the issue of the status of Kosovo among themselves as is required in resolution 1244 of the Security Council, which continues to exist and which can`t be applied selectively,” added Russian Foreign Minister.
