Moscow tops list of candidates to host 1st Youth Olympics

The International Olympic Committee, the IOC, has announced the finalist cities, bidding to host the first Summer Youth Olympics in 2010. Moscow is among the five cities still competing to hold the event, which will feature athletes between the ages of 14

Other candidate cities selected are Athens, Bangkok, Singapore and Turin.

In the International Olympic Committee's risk assessment of the candidates Moscow got the highest ratings.

The finalists will be assessed by an IOC Evaluation Commission, chaired by IOC Executive Board member and former Olympic pole vault champion Sergey Bubka.

The commission will submit its report to the IOC Executive Board at the end of January next year.

The host city for the 1st Summer Youth Olympic Games will be announced at the end of February 2008, following a postal vote by all IOC members.
