Want to pay less tax? Move to Russia

Russia, along with the United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong has the most attractive personal tax regime. That's according to a survey by investment services firm, Mercer.

The UAE took top place with a system that doesn't tax individuals on income, but takes five per cent of gross salary in social security contributions.

Russia came in second, with its flat tax of 13 per cent.

Hong Kong was third, taking 14 per cent of gross salary in tax and social security contributions.

European countries came out badly in the survey. Many have among the highest personal tax rates in the world.
