Suspected bus bomber detained

Police say they have detained a suspect believed to have organised a bus bombing. It left two people dead and nine more wounded in the Stavropol region a week ago. According to the Investigative Committee, the suspect has admitted to the charges.

“The suspect is still being interrogated. Physical evidence corroborates his confession. The investigation will continue. We are taking steps to find out who else may have been involved in this criminal act,” commented Vladimir Markin from the Investigative Committee.

The local Federal Security Service says the suspect is a native of the Republic of Ingushetia.

The bomb was made of plastic explosives and shrapnel and was placed in a one-litre juice carton.

The FSB claim traces of the explosive were found on the suspect's clothes and the money he gave to the driver.

The blast occurred at a bus terminal in Russia’s southern town of Nevinnomyssk on December 9.
