Blast near Kremlin was hooliganism: Police

Police in Moscow say a blast near the Kremlin on Thursday was not caused by terrorists, but was an act of hooliganism. No one was hurt in the incident. The shopping mall has reopened.

Meanwhile, according to Moscow police the blast was not caused by a manufactured firecracker as was previously believed.

“We can say for certain it was a home-made device. Whether it was a firecracker or a bomb it's hard to tell. No metal pieces were found. There was no special cover either, except for a plastic wrapping and aluminum foil. At the moment, five components of the device have been identified, including nitrate,” head of Moscow police, Vladimir Pronin, said.

The loud bang caused panic in the shopping centre, but all the people were evacuated and no one was injured.
