Terrorists could hit Siberia with ease: report

An investigation by the Prosecutor's office in Russia's Siberia has exposed serious security flaws at local airports and train stations. A report drawn up by local authorities has found them open to terrorist attacks.

The report says security measures put in place in Altay, Krasnoyarsk and Novosibirsk regions are not enough and the airports are at high risk.

Altay in Siberia has no airport safety board and no measures are taken to provide passenger security.

Entrances to Krasnoyarsk airport have no checkpoints, and there is nothing to stop vehicles getting onto the tarmac.

The authorities say the security level is low in railway stations, and want to see things tightened up to bring them up to the standard of other stations in Russia.
