MIPCOM 2014: RT PRESENTS AWARD-WINNING DOCUMENTARY FEATURES

MOSCOW, OCTOBER 13, 2014 – RTDoc, RT’s documentary channel, will present its top films and series at the 2014 MIPCOM TV and entertainment market in Cannes, which takes place 13-16 October.

More than 20 of RT’s best documentary films will be showcased by RTDoc at MIPCOM. They include “Blood and Honour,” which took the gold medal at the 2014 New York Festivals, “Zashto?” (Why?), currently nominated for the Association of International Broadcasting’s Media Excellence Awards, documentary series “News Team,” which premiered at MIPDOC earlier this year, and brand-new film “Agafia,” which has already attracted attention of international media with its fascinating and heartwarming story.

“Blood and Honour” talks about the ancient Caucasus practice of blood feud, which is meant to avenge killed family members.“Zashto?” investigates the present-day consequences of NATO’s 1999 military campaign against Belgrade, and its media coverage in Serbia and abroad. “Agafia” is the story of a 70-year-old Russian Old Believer living in Siberia who finally reaches out to the outside world with the help of RT’s film crew. And “News Team” follows a group of international news correspondents as they report on breaking stories from around the world.

RT’s specialty programs, also featured at MIPCOM, include popular favorites such as markets-and-finance show “The Keiser Report” and high-profile interview series “Sophie&Co”, hosted by Sophie Shevardnadze.
