Gun attack injures vice-governor in Far East

The vice-governor of the Primorsky Region has been shot in Russia's Far Eastern city of Vladivostok.

Sergey Sopchuk received two bullet wounds, one in the arm and another in the shoulder, as he was getting into his car on the way to work.

The official was rushed to the local hospital for an operation.

His condition is said to be stable.

Investigators suspect the shooting may be connected to the vice-governor's official duties.

Sergey Sopchuk is currently supervising the fishing industry, public utilities and housing in the region.
