Cameron awkwardly photobombs Xi Jinping selfie with Man City footballer

Chinese President Xi Jinping posed for a selfie with footballer Sergio Aguero during a visit to Manchester City Football Club on Friday. British Prime Minister David Cameron, however, was ridiculed on Twitter for awkwardly photobombing the shot.

Twitter users called the image “cringeworthy.”

Xi is in Manchester on the final day of a four-date state visit to the UK.

The Chinese President visited the National Football Museum and watched former Manchester City player and Chinese footballer Sun Jihai being inducted into the hall of fame – the first Chinese national to receive the honor.

He also met Patrick Vieira and Mike Summerbee, both former Manchester City players, and ex-Manchester United stars Gary Neville and Denis Law.

Xi visited Manchester Town Hall during his tour of the city, meeting with City Chairman Kahldroon Al Mubarak.

Hundreds of British-based Chinese greeted the president with flags, chanting “We love you President Xi” outside the Town Hall.

Nearby, protestors held banners demanding justice for those persecuted by Chinese authorities and freedom for practitioners of Falun Gong – a prohibited spiritual group which is widely repressed.
