Tiger Woods comeback looks unlikely
Former golf world number one Tiger Woods says he has “nothing to look forward to” as he recovers from back surgery. The 14-time major winner has not swung a golf club since operations to fix a pinched nerve in September and October.
When asked about a return to golf, Woods said: "I've no answer. Neither does my surgeon or physio. There's no timetable.
"There's nothing I can look forward to, nothing I can build towards. Where's the light at the end of the tunnel? I don't know."
Woods said he spends most of his time playing video games, and has not done any rehabilitation work on his back and that physical activities were limited.
"I'm just walking, and that's it," Woods said, adding that "it's different from the other surgeries I've had in the past. For [nerve injuries] there are really no timetables."
The American missed the cut at three of the four majors this year and played only 11 events. He currently has a total of 79 PGA Tour victories.
He played only seven tournaments in 2014, having missed three months of the season following surgery on a pinched nerve in his back during March that year.
"For my 20 years out here I achieved a lot," he said. "I think pretty much everything beyond this will be gravy. If that's all it entails, then I've had a pretty good run. But I'm hoping that's not it.
"I'm hoping I can get out here and compete against these guys. I really do miss it."
Davis Love III has named Woods as one of his assistants for the 2016 Ryder Cup, but the 39-year-old still hopes to make the team.
