Newly released Euro 2016 anthem is ‘incomprehensible’ – French official

Newly released Euro 2016 anthem is ‘incomprehensible’ – French official

The official UEFA Euro 2016 anthem, titled “I Was Made for Lovin''You (My Team)”, a cover of a famous Kiss song, was lambasted by critics shortly after its release. Among the critics were top national officials.

France’s Minister of State for Development and Francophonie, Andre Vallini, described the choice of the song’s language as “incomprehensible”.

He stressed that, “Euro 2016 will be a great festival of sport which is taking place in France and will therefore project the image of our country abroad. And our language too!”

Vallini added that, “it is therefore incomprehensible that the anthem of the French national team should be in English,” reported France’s edition of The Local.

Social media users also took time to criticize the anthem, namely for the choice of the song itself this time.

Euro 2016 is scheduled to be held in France from June 10 to July 10 this year. For the first time in its history, 24 national teams will be involved.
