World champion boxer Troyanovsky preparing for September 9 title defence
Undefeated Russian boxing champion Eduard Troyanovsky is putting the final touches to his training ahead of his defence of the IBF and IBO world titles against Japan’s Keita Obara this Friday in Moscow.
The fighter they call “The Eagle”, who has a perfect professional record of 24 wins and no losses with 21 big wins by way of knockout, is currently honing his skills ahead of the third defense of his titles against Obara at Moscow’s Krylya Sovetov stadium.
Light-welterweight Troyanovsky, 36, won his world belts against Argentina’s Cesar Rene Cuenca in Kazan in November by sixth-round technical knockout. He then knocked out Cuenca in a rematch in Moscow in April.
Troyanovsky was a latecomer to professional boxing, making his debut seven years ago at the age of 29. But the Omsk-born fighter has made handy work of climbing through the pro rankings, capturing the two world championship belts and recording a 88 percent knockout ratio on the way.
His opponent Obara poses a dangerous threat to Troyanovsky. Although relatively inexperienced, the former Japanese champion has recorded 15 knockout wins in his 18 fights. It will be the biggest fight in Obara’s career while Troyanovsky knows superstardom awaits if he can win in an impressive manner.

While “Troya” is focussed fully on his next opponent, boxing fans have already taken to Twitter to express their opinions on who they want him to fight next with American Terence Crawford heading the picks.
The fight will be the first world championship boxing match held in Moscow since Denis Lebedev’s IBF and WBA Super cruiserweight title defence against Victor Emilio Ramirez in May.
