Karaoke diplomacy as Duterte and Malaysian PM get in tune (VIDEO)

Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte and Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak took time out from talking politics for a bit of karaoke at a dinner at the Malay PM’s residence in Putrajaya.

Duterte was on a two day state visit to Malaysia to discuss bilateral cooperation on piracy in the Strait of Malacca and peace in the southern Philippine island of Mindanao, among other regional and international issues.

The sing-off took place on Thursday and saw the Philippines president chose Bette Midler’s ‘Wind Beneath my Wings’, while Najib belted out Cliff Richard’s ‘The Young Ones’.

The two leaders then tackled ‘Sha-La-La-La-La’ by The Walkers in an enthusiastic duet, with the help of a few backing singers.

Duterte is a karaoke enthusiast, known to spend hours with mic in hand to unwind from his day job.
