Protesters throw eggs at Le Pen in Bretagne (VIDEO)

Protesters throw eggs at Le Pen in Bretagne (VIDEO)

Protesters threw eggs and shouted slogans at French far-right presidential candidate Marine Le Pen, who made a campaign stop in the western French town of Dol-de-Bretagne.

The video, released by French BFMTV news channel, shows a smiling Le Pen who arrived at shipping company Guisnel in Dol-de-Bretagne, surrounded by dozens of people on May 4.

A moment later, one of her sharp-eyed security personnel is seen casting a look at the sky and then suddenly cupping his hands over Le Pen’s head. He is then joined by a second member of her security team. All three rush to the building entrance.

Protesters were heard shouting “Out with fascists!” and “You have nothing to do here!” according to Le Parisien.

The eggs failed to reach their target, and the leader of the National Front managed to reach the building safe and sound.

The incident comes just days before the second round of the presidential election in France. Le Pen, who garnered over 21 percent of votes in the first round on May 7, will face off against En Marche party head Emmanuel Macron, who claimed over 24 percent of the votes.

The French apparently don’t mind wasting pastry ingredients when it comes to expressing their political views.

In March, Macron also had an egg thrown at him after his visit to an agricultural show. In this instance, the egg hit the target.

In April, defeated candidate Francois Fillon of the Republicans had a packet of flour emptied on his face and suit at a campaign event in Strasbourg.
