EU Brexit negotiator Barnier says no Irish border breakthrough in coming weeks
EU Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier says a deal with the UK on the issue of the Irish border is unlikely in the coming weeks. Following last month’s agreement on guidelines that will govern negotiations on future relations and trade with Britain, the negotiators are now focusing on technical details, Barnier said. The official added that any breakthrough is unlikely before the end of June. He made the statement after meeting acting Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis in Prague on Thursday. Britain is leaving the EU in March 2019.
