Poland ‘to respect’ EU top court ruling on logging in ancient Bialowieza forest
Warsaw will respect a ruling by the European Union’s top court, which found that the country had violated EU law by increased logging in its ancient Bialowieza forest, Poland’s Environment Ministry said on Tuesday. “We are waiting for details of the court’s official ruling. As declared earlier, Poland will observe the court’s judgment,” the ministry’s spokesman said. The Luxembourg-based European Court of Justice said the logging in the forest endangered many species of birds and insects in the ecologically important forest, Reuters reports.
