Twitter outages reported across North America, parts of Europe and Japan

Twitter has reportedly suffered an outage, with users across the United States, Canada, parts of Western Europe as well as Japan all affected. Users on Down Detector, a popular website which provides updates on social media malfunctions and outages, reported issues with the social media platform for several hours on Friday afternoon. Understandably, Twitter’s official account has yet to tweet confirming whether the outage has been resolved. "Unable to post tweets . . . Is this a Facebook sabotage?" one user on Down Detector wrote, in reference to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's ongoing woes with the US congress amid a worsening privacy scandal. Twitter boasts roughly 330 million monthly users worldwide. People have reportedly been able to log on but have been unable to post to the social media platform.
