New Normandy Four meeting to be held when Ukraine takes steps to implement Minsk agreements – Moscow

The need for holding Normandy Four meetings will arise when Kiev takes steps to implement the Minsk agreements, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandr Grushko has said. If “political conditions are ripe” for such a meeting, Moscow will be ready to participate, he told TASS in an interview published on Saturday. The Normandy Four comprises Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France. “We value the Normandy Quartet platform but progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements needs to be achieved for it to become effective,” according to the diplomat. Grushko said that Kiev was ignoring its obligations, and “this is the main issue.” He said that some new laws are adopted in Ukraine that “complicate the situation further as they run counter not only to the letter of the Minsk agreements but also to their logic, weakening the prospects for resolving the conflict” in eastern Ukraine.
