Putin welcomes & accompanies WWII veteran after he was pushed away by president’s guard (VIDEO)

A presidential guard pushed away a decorated World War II veteran to make way for Russian President Vladimir Putin during Victory Day celebrations. The president then welcomed the man and accompanied him to Alexander Garden.

The video shows the veteran, dressed in a ceremonial uniform with numerous medals and decorations, receiving inappropriate treatment from a member of Putin’s security staff. As Putin and his guards approached the man, he was unceremoniously pushed aside.

The president was on the way to Alexander Garden, located next to Red Square, to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Putin, whose father also fought in the WWII, then paused and approached the veteran to shake his hand.

The veteran, presumably a retired major general, is then seen walking next to President Putin and other dignitaries as they entered Alexander Garden.
