195 evacuated due to fire at Russia’s Raspadskaya mine

195 miners were evacuated to the surface after a blaze at the Raspadskaya mine in Russia’s Kemerovo Region, local authorities said. According to emergency services, hardware caught fire at the coal longwall face but the outbreak was localized and extinguished. There were no casualties or injuries as a result of the incident, it added. Mine operator Evraz hasn’t yet announced when operations at the country’s biggest mine will resume. In 2017, 66 miners were killed and over 100 were injured after Raspadskaya was rocked by a major blast.
