RT DOCUMENTARIES ABOUT SYRIA AND PALESTINE AMONG GOLDEN EAGLE AWARD FINALISTS

MOSCOW, MAY 11, 2018— RT’s documentaries about children in war-torn Syria and young Palestinians practicing parkour in the Gaza Strip have made it to the finals of one of the oldest and most prestigious awards competitions – the CINE Golden Eagle Awards.

RT’s documentary ‘Running for Freedom,’ filmed in 360, is among the finalists in the category Virtual Reality: Nonfiction Content. The documentary tells the story of two friends who take up parkour, training amid the ruins in the Gaza Strip. For them, “parkour is the only way to get the taste of freedom and break free.”

RT is a also a finalist in the category Nonfiction Content: Short – Documentary for its film ‘Growing up with War: Children of Syria,’ which tells the story of Syrian children who don’t remember a time of peace. In April 2018, the documentary took gold at the prestigious New York Festivals Television & Film Awards.

Created in 1957, CINE (Council on International Non-Theatrical Events) established the Golden Eagle Awards seeking to honor excellence and give support to outstanding professional and student film-makers, as well as producers of TV and digital content.
