German economy minister to visit Russia on May 14-15

Germany's economy minister Peter Altmaier will visit Moscow at the beginning of the next week. Altmaier told Deutschlandfunk radio in an interview on Friday that he will follow German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, who was in Moscow for negotiations on Thursday. “I will be there on Monday and Tuesday,” the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy said. He added that Chancellor Angela Merkel will visit Sochi during the week. It was reported earlier that Altmaier plans to visit Ukraine and Russia on May 13-14 to discuss energy issues. The agenda will include the implementation of the Nord Stream-2 project and Ukraine’s role as the a transit corridor for Russian gas to Europe.
