Kremlin says US decision to move embassy to Jerusalem may raise regional tensions

Moscow fears that the US decision to move its embassy to Jerusalem will raise regional tensions, acting Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Monday. “Yes, we do have such concerns as we have already said,” he told reporters when asked if the Kremlin was concerned that Washington’s move could increase tensions in the wider region. US President Donald Trump made the decision to move the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem on December 6, 2017. Israel, which seized the eastern part of Jerusalem during the 1967 war, says the city is the single and indivisible capital of the country. Palestinians want to make the eastern part of the city the capital of their future state.
