Putin meets new Armenian PM, hopes relations with Yerevan will advance

Russian President Vladimir Putin expects relations between Moscow and Yerevan will continue to steadily improve under the new Armenian government. “I want to wish you success as the head of the government and hope that our relations will develop as progressively as before,” Putin said during his first meeting with Armenia’s new Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Sochi on Monday. The Armenian delegation led by Pashinyan arrived in the Russian city to take part in a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. Armenia’s parliament elected the new prime minister on May 8, after nearly two weeks of opposition protests.
