43 people arrested during mass anti-Macron protest in Paris

Police have arrested 43 people during a protest against President Emmanuel Macron’s public-sector reforms in Paris on Saturday. A total of 36 were placed in custody for bearing arms, committing violent acts and other violations, French Interior Minister Gerard Collumb wrote on Twitter. He also thanked police officers, who “swiftly curbed the unrest, ensured public order and security of the demonstrators.” Some 250,000 people took part in a wave of protests across France on May 26, including 80,000 in the capital. The rally in Paris at one point turned violent as leftist radicals attempted to wreck bank offices and clashed with police, injuring seven officers.
