Chinese, Russian FMs agree to ‘boost coordination’ on Korean Peninsula denuclearization & peace

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi have agreed to “boost coordination and cooperation as well as to make efforts to reach denuclearization and enduring peace on the Korean Peninsula,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement. Lavrov's meeting with the Chinese foreign minister in South Africa comes just days after the top diplomat met with the North Korean leadership, delivering a personal letter from President Vladimir Putin. While visiting Pyongyang, Lavrov welcomed North Korean diplomatic efforts, stressing that Russia will support any mutually-beneficial agreement that could be reached between Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump at their upcoming meeting in Singapore. Lavrov is now in Pretoria, South Africa, which is hosting the ministerial meeting of the BRICS nations
