Police have arrested a man who took a shop assistant hostage in a supermarket in the north of Moscow. The incident took place in a store belonging to Dixy food retail company early Sunday, police said. The perpetrator, who was drunk and armed with a knife, demanded 300,000 rubles ($4,700) from the female shop assistant he took hostage, local outlets said. The woman sustained minor injuries during the incident, according to police. The suspect, who admitted his alcohol addiction, explained his actions as the desire to draw the attention of the Federal Security Service (FSB) to his problems.
