High-level meeting on settlement in Syria to be held in Sochi July 30-31 – Moscow

The 10th meeting of the deputy foreign ministers of the guarantors of the Astana process (Russia, Iran, and Turkey) on the settlement in Syria will be held in Sochi on July 30-31, Russian Foreign Ministry Deputy spokesman Artyom Kozhin said on Thursday. He added that the delegations of the Syrian government and the Syrian opposition, observers from the UN and Jordan would take part in the meeting, TASS reported. An invitation has been sent to the US as well, the diplomat said. The process of launching intra-Syrian negotiations based on UN Security Council Resolution 2254 will be discussed, taking into account the decisions of the Syrian National Dialogue Congress held in Sochi. Also on the agenda will be further steps to launch the work of the Constitutional Committee at an early date “as an important tool to promote a political solution to the Syrian crisis.”
