Arson is suspected cause of devastating fire in Greece

Greek authorities say there are “serious indications” that arson may have caused the forest fire that has killed at least 83 people. Civil Protection Minister Nikos Toskas said at a news conference that police had testimonies to prove this, although he gave no more details. The blaze started Monday night outside Athens and trapped many people. As of Thursday, firefighters were still battling the remaining pockets of fire and dozens remain missing. Authorities and locals also blame haphazard and unlicensed building practice, a feature in Greece, for the rapid spread of the fire.
