GramDad? Pensioner ‘selling crack and heroin to supplement his pension’

A pensioner has been accused of selling crack cocaine and heroin from his retirement home, where users have been “injecting with spoons and flames” in full view of other residents to “supplement his pension”, police have said.

Elderly residents living at John Gwynn House retirement complex, in Worcester, West Midlands, have complained that they’ve witnessed people injecting themselves with Class A drugs after visiting the man's room, the Telegraph reports.

The shocking claims that could quite happily sit in an episode of ‘Breaking Bad… The Pensioner Years’, revolve around the alleged dealings of a retired man who, according to residents, is said to have started selling crack cocaine and heroin to "supplement his pension".

One male resident claimed: "He's been doing it for a while, starting off selling cannabis to friends in order to make a few bob on the side to supplement his pension."

An 80-year-old female resident insisted drug activity had been in operation "for years". She told the Telegraph: "There's a constant flow of people coming and going, buying drugs. I can tell 90 per cent are drug users from the state of them.

"The users sleep in corridors here if they can - with their sleeping bags. One lady took photographs of them injecting with spoons and flames. It makes people feel frightened."

West Mercia Police have confirmed they are investigating the claims. Sanctuary Housing, which runs John Gwynn House, has encouraged residents to collect evidence of drug dealing to assist the police in their investigation.

The retirement home is made up of 43 one and two-bedroom flats for people aged 60 and over.
