X-rated TV channel shown in stadium bar sparks probe by English football team

‘Babestation’ – an adult channel which invites viewers to call in and speak with their scantily-clad hosts, was broadcast to the fans of Bristol Rovers, which plays in the third tier of English football, during a game this week.

Steve Hamer, chairman of the English League One side, says that broadcasting he adult channel to fans in the Memorial Stadium clubhouse was “not acceptable” and that the club are investigating the matter.

The feed was played during half-time in the match only to be cut off midway through. However, it resumed during the second-half of the English League Cup fixture.

Fans who were in attendance took to Twitter to voice their amusement, and it seems as though many of the supporters saw the funny side of the incident. One fan, who called into BBC Radio Bristol to discuss the matter, said that the entire episode was “amusing.”

“To be honest the Flake advert was more racy than what we saw last night,” he told BBC Sport.

“It was quite amusing really. The first time we thought it was just an advert but then the football came back on and then whoever had a remote control put it back on again and there was a massive cheer.”

Hamer, though, didn’t quite see the funny side and has promised that an investigation will be launched to determine how the incident happened.

“We have had a major refit in the clubhouse and our bars this summer and we’ve got 14-15 new TVs all in place and I suspect there was an area of vulnerability there and somebody has hacked into it,” he said.

“What was seen was pretty moderate and we will talk to our TV engineers and media teams to find out what happened.”
