Center-left coalition wins Swedish election by small margin – final results

Sweden’s ruling center-left coalition has won the majority of votes in the general election, the country’s electoral committee announced on Sunday. The Social Democrats scored 28.26 percent of the vote, while their allies in the Green Party won 4.41 percent. The Left, which supports the incumbent government, won eight percent of the votes. The center-right Moderates scored over 19.84 percent, while the three parties that back the Moderates as part of the conservative Alliance, won a combined 20.42 percent of the votes. The anti-immigrant Sweden Democrats ended up with 17.53 percent, recording the biggest gain in the Riksdag, and potentially making them kingmakers in a future government.
