Venezuela’s ‘interim president’ Guaido announces delivery of first foreign aid

The leader of Venezuela's opposition Juan Guaido has said that the first batch of humanitarian aid has been delivered to pregnant women and malnourished children. Guaido, recognized by the West as the interim president of Venezuela, did not specify where the aid came from. In a post on Twitter, he stated that some 1.7 million portions of prenatal vitamins and mineral supplements had been delivered to the most vulnerable.  It had been reported earlier that trucks with US aid, including medical supplies, had arrived in Colombia’s town of Cucuta, on the border with Venezuela, despite vocal protests from Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro, who vowed to block its entry into the country. Reuters reported there were no signs of the US supplies leaving the Colombian town. Brazil and the Caribbean islands have also been named as potential aid collection points.
