Estonian opposition Reform Party wins general election

Estonia’s liberal opposition Reform Party won Sunday’s general election, while the Euroskeptic ERKE doubled its support.

Estonians voted in a tight general election that saw the ruling Center Party face off against the neoliberal Reform Party and Euroskeptic EKRE.

Former MEP Kaja Kallas’s center-right Reform Party won 28.8 percent of the vote, ahead of Ratas’s Center Party on 23 percent. The right-wing EKRE doubled its previous election result to win 17.8 percent of the vote. EKRE has come out strongly against EU-mandated refugee quotas, and has called for a referendum on EU membership.
