RT’S #ROMANOVS100 IN THE FINALS OF ‘OSCARS OF THE INTERNET’ WEBBY AWARDS

MOSCOW, APRIL 3, 2019 — #Romanovs100, the large-scale, cross-platform, multimedia project launched by RT to mark the centenary of the execution of the last Russian royal family, has made it to the finals of the Webby Awards – a prestigious international award honoring excellence on the internet.

#Romanovs100 has been shortlisted for “Best Photography and Graphics”, alongside Nike, Apple, and National Geographic. Users can also vote for RT in the People’s Voice Award category from now until April 18.

#Romanovs100, produced in collaboration with the State Archive of Russia, was offered across four platforms – YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Over the course of 100 days, rare archival photographs from the Romanovs’ personal collection were published across the project’s accounts. They represent the most complete collection to-date of photos taken by the royal family. Last year, the project triumphed at The Drum Awards and Clio Entertainment, and this year it was honored at the Promax Europe Awards, one of the most prestigious competitions in the sphere of TV promotion, marketing, and design. The project was also named a finalist in six categories at this year’s New York Festivals.

RT has previously taken home two People’s Voice Awards at the Webbys. In 2018, RT won for #1917LIVE, a “real-time” historical social media reenactment dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution. In 2016, RT was chosen as the best in overall social media presence, as represented by a series of digital projects, including platforms on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Soundcloud, and Coub, as well as the RT Play Facebook portal, which offers a selection of infotainment videos with infographics elements.

The Webby Awards, “the internet’s highest honor,” according to the New York Times, annually honor the world’s best digital projects: websites, videos, mobile apps and social media campaigns. The jury includes more than 1,000 professionals within the web and media industries. This year’s winners will be announced on 23 April.
