All eyes turn to England as UEFA Champions League quarter-finals get underway in London & Liverpool

The first two UEFA Champions League quarter-final first-leg ties get underway, with three English Premier League sides set for action on Tuesday night.

NORTH VERSUS SOUTH

Tuesday night's big quarter-final clash sees the north of England go head to head with the south, as Manchester City travel to London to take on Tottenham Hotspur in their brand new stadium.

City are fighting on multiple fronts, with the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup all within reach. But they face three games against Spurs in the space of less than two weeks that could make or break their season.

Two of those games come in the Champions League, with arguably the toughest coming tonight in North London.

But after their stunning 10-2 aggregate thrashing of Schalke in the last round, City will take to the field with no fear.

It's a different story for Spurs, however, whose form has dipped noticeably on the domestic front in recent weeks. But they christened their stadium with a 2-0 win in their first match last weekend against Crystal Palace, and will look to give their fans the first big European win at their new home tonight.

City welcome Sergio Aguero back to the starting lineup after two games out injured, while England internationals Kyle Walker and Fabian Delph slot into the side in fullback/wingback roles.

Spurs, meanwhile, have loaded up with firepower for their home leg, with Harry Kane joined by Christian Eriksen, Son Heung-Min and Dele Alli all named in the side.

ANFIELD EXPECTS

At Anfield, Liverpool fans will be looking for their side to get off to a flying start against Portuguese side FC Porto.

The Reds are without starting left-back Andy Robertson, but have the experienced and versatile James Milner ready to step in for the clash, while this season's star performer Virgil van Dijk is expected to be fit to start in the heart of the defence.

Jurgen Klopp's side gave their boss a sweet victory in the Last 16 as they defeated Bayern Munich 3-1 away from home after their home leg finished goalless.

It set up their quarter-final tie with Porto, who won by the same scoreline after a dramatic, bad-tempered match at the Estadio Dragao went to extra time. And with time running out for the Portuguese, a late, late VAR penalty award gifted Porto the chance to knock out the Italian giants and book their spot in the Last 8.

Alex Telles buried the spot-kick, and sent Porto through to tonight's clash with Liverpool. But they'll have to negotiate the first leg without two of their talismanic stars. Both skipper Hector Herrera and notorious hard-man defender Pepe are suspended for tonight's match at Anfield.
